Open-source video meetings with cloud and on-premises options
OpenTalk is an open-source video conferencing platform from the Heinlein Gruppe. Its code is published under the European Public Licence (EUPL). You can use the hosted service or arrange deployment on your own infrastructure; an open-source licence does not make hosting, support or administration free.
Collaboration and moderation
OpenTalk provides chat, polls, whiteboards and moderation tools for meetings and workshops. Depending on the plan, it adds breakout rooms, recording, voting, streaming and telephone dial-in. Check the plan comparison because these capabilities are not included in every tier.
Hosted plans and deployment choices
The hosted Starter plan lists ten rooms, up to five participants and a 30-minute meeting limit. Standard allows up to 50 participants and meetings lasting up to 240 minutes; Premium lists up to 200 participants without a meeting time limit. Paid plans depend on billing period and user licences, with business prices excluding VAT. On-premises offers are available on request.
Operating your own installation
The provider describes a container-based architecture with Kubernetes for larger deployments and APIs for integration. Running your own instance requires infrastructure, updates, monitoring and administration. Clarify responsibilities, access settings, recording retention and data-processing agreements before using sensitive meeting content. Hosting location and licence choice alone do not establish compliance for every use case.
