Free video meetings with Infomaniak
kMeet is Infomaniak’s free video meeting service. It includes screen sharing, chat and virtual backgrounds, with browser access and desktop and mobile apps. Infomaniak states that meeting communications pass through its servers in Switzerland.
Encryption and recording choices
Meetings are encrypted by default. Optional end-to-end encryption is supported in current Chromium-based browsers and the desktop app, but not on mobile devices. Recording requires a kDrive and cannot be used for a meeting encrypted with a custom key. Recordings take place on the server, are saved as MP4 files on kDrive and have a maximum duration of three hours.
Choosing a setup
The free meeting service and the storage needed for recordings are separate considerations. Check your kDrive or kSuite offer, device support and encryption settings before relying on a particular workflow. Review contractual privacy requirements for your use case; Swiss hosting alone is not a legal compliance guarantee.
